A VILLAGE Scout group picked up their paintbrushes recently to give a church hall a fresh, new look

Heckington Scout Group offered to redecorate Methodist Church hall in the village as part of Scout Community Week.

The work was undertaken by Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, parents and carers, who all gave up their time to emulsion and gloss the hall at the back of the church.

The Lincoln branch of B & Q sponsored the community week by donating painting materials for the project.

Scout group chairman Ian Ridley said he was also in talks to get the tired looking carpet replaced too.

One of the custodians of the hall, Sally Pinchbeck, said: “What they have done for the chapel is super. They have freshened it up and it looks lovely. They had asked if they could come and paint it and we said ’Yes please’.

“There were so many people chipping in - parents and young people.”

The hall is used as the Methodist Sunday School room, as well as by various other community groups.

Mrs Pinchbeck said they would have had to have saved up to pay for the hall to be decorated, so they were very grateful for the help.
