Shadowy tale of a movie being made in Sleaford
AUDITIONS are to be held this month for a Sleaford based feature film - Shadows of a Stranger.
Taking place at The Hub very soon, the home-grown production team are hoping to fill up their cast with local actors, and have a variety of roles still available.
Kit Tinsley, who is producing the film, says: "We've made some exciting additions to the cast list during the past couple of months, including one or two actors from well known television shows. We can't wait to bring them up here and start filming."
The team, as Abela Productions, have produced two, locally-shot, short films previously, many of them having trained in film production at university.
Among the growing cast is James Aubrey, actor of stage, screen, and television, who first appeared as Ralph in Peter Brook's Lord of the Flies and was later with the Royal Shakespeare Company for three years.
Kit adds: "The script has a lot of different characters of varying ages, but even if people just want to appear in the background then there are plenty of smaller roles on offer. We'll be attempting to create some city-like locations in our studio and so having small crowds of people in shot will add to the film's bustling and chaotic atmosphere."
The filmmakers are intending to make a film with an atmospheric visual owing something to the groundbreaking graphic novel style of 300 and Sin City, underpinned by themes of the power of thought and the human mind, and the search for one's fortune.
Shadows of a Stranger is described as a film with a deep conscience, making strong allusions to one of the most well loved stories of all time, A Christmas Carol.
David is a struggling private detective working in the city of Meridian. Soon the investigator is to be haunted by more than just the shadows of his fragmented life as the film brings you a number of ghostly visitations and psychic travelling when he takes on one last job.
With filming due to commence in the spring, the team has an exciting year ahead of them. Once all the scenes have been shot in their blue screen studio, the filmmakers will then require a long period of post-production, but they are hoping to get the film finished by Christmas of next year, 2011.
Richard Dutton, writer and director of the film script, said: "It's going to be a fairly unique style of film, and certainly a unique opportunity for budding actors in the Sleaford area, and we know there's some great talent out there locally."
There are a number of audition time slots still available so anyone interested in having a go is encouraged to get in touch with the filmmakers by emailing Kit on kit@shadowsofastranger.co.uk
