Sharpe's legendary folk singer John Tams to grace Sleaford Playhouse stage
A TRULY mouth-watering line up of folk singer/songwriters is set to grace the stage in Sleaford next month.
The legendary John Tams and Barry Coope are to play at The Playhouse Theatre on Saturday October 3.
Described by Mojo magazine as "one of the ultimate British songwriters" John has been a guiding light of the folk scene for four decades, with the Albion Band, Home Service and as a solo performer.
Previously musical director at the National Theatre and associate director at Sheffield's Crucible Theatre, John is a regular producer of dramas for Radio 4 and is also a skilled actor, maybe best known by some for taking a lead role in the classic historical TV drama Sharpe, as well as composing and performing the show's soundtrack.
Aside from all of this, John was also the musical director of the highly acclaimed BBC Radio Two 2006 series The Radio Ballads and has won Radio 2's Folk Awards no fewer than five times.
To appreciate the best of John Tams you have to see him live. John has performed extensively over the past decade with long time musical partner Barry Coope from a cappella trio Coope, Boyes and Simpson, winning the award for best duo in the 2008 BBC folk awards.
Support on the night will be from Sleaford's own Winter Wilson, previously described by John Tams as "magnificent".
If you have not seen them before, Kip and Dave's songs are mostly self penned with some wonderful harmonies given the magical touch by Kip's fabulous voice.
