Sleaford film project adds star appeal with Sarah-Jane from CBeebies
THE cameras are rolling for a new independent film being made in Sleaford including some well-known names from stage and TV.
The group of young film makers from Sleaford are currently shooting a ghostly psychological thriller called Shadows Of A Stranger set in an imaginary city using blue screen technology to conjure up the entire backdrop.
Co-directors Chris Clark and Rich Dutton have cultivated some bigger name contacts to supplement a cast of amateur performers, which led to them recruiting James Aubrey, from Cranwell, famous for his starring role in Lord of the Flies. Sadly he died recently, but they have also enticed former Dr Who Colin Baker, plus several well-known children's television actors including Sarah-Jane Honeywell, regular presenter and actress on BBC programmes such as Tikkabilla and Higgledy House.
The crew have been shooting Sarah-Jane's scenes in their makeshift studio in a barn near Ruskington.
She said: "Chris contacted me on Facebook and sent the link to their website. It looked amazing. The set up is like a real film studio. I play an angelic girl."
The 36-year-old travelled from her parents each day in Retford, but they were held up by heavy rain, making sound checks impossible. Sarah-Jane said: "They have been so professional and meticulous but really friendly. I was a bit nervous about not being good enough and I had to smoke, which was a disaster because I couldn't keep it lit."
The rural location was luxury for Sarah-Jane compared to changing in stables and a van for her new BBC kids sports series Mighty Mites. She has been doing some writing and doing a film with Martin Kemp.
Filming is scheduled to be completed by August with the finished work ready for Christmas 2011.
