Special flypast for village fete

FAYRE FLY-PAST - A Spitfire from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is set to give a fly-past soon after the Kirkby Underwood Summer Fayre opens on Saturday, June 23.

The timing of the Fayre’s opening has been timed to coincide with the fly-past offered by the BBMF in the hope that plenty of people will come out and support the event.

The Summer Fayre will be held in the centre of the village in and around the village hall, starting at 1.30pm and running to 4.30pm.

In the evening there will be a barbecue at 7pm, with music and a licensed bar.

Louise Green, chairman of the organising committee, said: “It is a very busy year for the BBMF and we feel very fortunate that once again we will have a Spitfire over the village.

“Our traditional Summer Fayre always seems to be popular.

“We will give a warm welcome to anyone who comes along to take part in the various games, or who buys some bargains from our stalls, enjoys freshly prepared refreshments or a cool drink and generally has a fun afternoon.”
