University trio’s latest gadgets at NCCD

THE National Centre for Craft and Design in Sleaford is hosting a new exhibition featuring transatlantic work of three universities.

Opening on September 15 and running until November 4, mbrela is a collaboration of three product design and industrial design programmes based at the University of Lincoln (UK), Philadelphia University and San Jose State University (USA).

Situated in the Roof Gallery, it offers visitors a glimpse of recent products designed and created by staff and students, through blogging, skype and research visits.

The fresh, exciting and fun products featured include Dragg, an electric blue coloured rope light; Psyko a chair that rocks mysteriously when it is empty; Zoomster, a children’s ride-on toy that can be decorated by its owner and Denrug, a rug that lets you climb inside. The Centre will also welcome guest speakers from the universities for an evening of presentations and an after-hours tour on October 3 from 6pm to 8pm (free entry).
