Virtuoso guitarist plays at village hall

Concert guitarist Richard Durrant brought his show celebrating the life and music of Augustin Barrios to Scopwick Village Hall.

Entitled The Number 26 Bus To Paraguay he tells the tale of how a young boy on the number 26 bus to his first guitar lesson, ended up in Paraguay as an honoured guest.

He also performed music by Django Reinhardt, Claude Debussy and Los Paraguayos in a show featuring film and animation to demonstrate how far someone can stretch the expressive range of a guitar.

About 120 people watched the concert which partly raised money for the maintenance of the village hall and playing field.

Organiser Rosa nelson said: “I enjoyed it very much, in my view it was the best event I have experienced in the village hall ever! It was very satisfying to see the hall so packed with people but to have such an accomplished international musician in the village was a real coup.”
