Warm welcome for new singers

FOLLOWING on from the success of the Village Consort, a smaller group of Sleaford Choral Society members, in raising over £960 for three local churches where they performed, the Society is inviting local singers to join them at open rehearsals.

The rehearsals are on Wednesday September 19 and Wednesday September 26, both at 7.15pm, in Northgate Methodist Church in Sleaford. Music will be provided, no expenses, and even if your singing experience is limited, you are warmly welcome.

Chairman Alwyn N Kirk joined the Society in 1974 as a result of an invitation to try it out, and said: “I was a little wary at first, of singing with a proper society, but found it great fun, a challenge, and I still enjoy it as much as ever. If anyone feels a bit nervous, then I can assure you that you will soon feel very much at home”.

The society is friendly, informal, enjoys a challenge, and has a good feeling when it all comes together at the performance.

The new season will begin with the traditional Christmas concert at St Denys’ Church Sleaford on Saturday, December 8 at 7.30pm. Then on Saturday May 18 at 7.30pm the Society will be taking on Verdi’s Requiem, accompanied by orchestra and organ. For more details call 01526 832987 or alwyno@aol.com.
