Something Wonderful came to Sleaford last week when a series of artistic performances were staged in and around the National Centre for Craft and Design.

Artists Raisin and Willow have been working on a project that explores our sense of place, the meaning of home and how we find the wonderful in the everyday during their residency in Sleaford and devised three events for everyone to enjoy.

Based at White and Sentance piano specialists the Piano Circus event was held on Wednesday at their Eastgate shop. Jonathan Raisin composed a specially arranged new piece and invited local pianists of all ages and abilities to join in and have a play on the grand pianos.

On Thursday evening there was a Pecha Kucha event at NCCD. This was an informal, fun gathering where people got together to share ideas, works, thoughts and pictures, some in a slideshow.

There was a marvellous map of the town’s hidden treasures installed in and around the NCCD and then The Penny Readings, new tales of Lincolnshire written and performed by Raisin and Willow, devised from things they found, saw and heard in the streets of the town on Friday evening followed by music from Sleaford Ukulele Orchestra. Guests were invited to dress up for the occasion by wearing something wonderful.
