In our Pages From The Past recently we referred to a media open day held at RAF College Cranwell for national and local press and television.

A plane-load of journalists from London were among those who attended to be shown around the new college buildings provided as a result of the integration of the RAF College at Henlow with Cranwell in 1966.

It demonstrated how the expansion had made the college area the 10th biggest town in Lincolnshire - a highly sophisticated boom town employing hundreds of forces and civilian personnel.
