Heavy metal rock band Saxon swept into Sleaford to celebrate the opening of new hair salon Sebastian’s in Northgate back in 1990.

Heavy metal rock band Saxon swept into Sleaford to celebrate the opening of new hair salon Sebastian’s in Northgate back in 1990.

The band, who shot to fame with such hits as Strong Arm Of The Law, Ride Like The Wind and Wheels Of Steel, were lending their rock star celebrity support for lead singer Biff Byford’s wife Christine who was opening the salon on St Valentine’s Day.

He told The Standard he wouldn’t be sticking around to share any tips on heavy metal hair styling: “We’re writing songs in the studio, then we’ll be off on tour,” explained Biff. “When I’m not recording or touring, I’m opening salons.”

The salon continued for over 20 years until closing, but the premises is now occupied by new hair salon Crowning Glory.
