Organiser William Elkington said the 1940s wartime nostalgia event has carried on regardless with a slightly reduced programme and a discounted entry fee for the Monday.

He said: “Most of the stall holders were still in high spirits and the entertainment carried on.

“The weekend has been absolutely mega. The Friday night entertainment was good, the Saturday night dance was a sell out and everyone enjoyed the free cabaret on Sunday night. We have had good takings on the gate and did exceptionally well on Saturday. People were still wandering around in shirtsleeves on Sunday despite the light rain and we had a flypast, so we are pleased how it has gone.

The under cover attractions obviously proved popular, including the NAAFI food tent and there was an unexpected additional demonstration when an old army recovery truck was drafted into action when a tank blew its engine on Sunday.
