Back in January 1990, four girls from St George’s Secondary School in Sleaford were just a victory away from being crowned National Badminton Champions.
Sisters Joanne and Emma Nunn along with team mates Carol Harmston and Nadine Edwards, aged between 13 and 14, had got into the Eastern finals to be held in Nottingham which would see them named national champions if they won. They were currently ranked 16th in Great Britain.
They had been busy playing and practising at the school and Carol and Nadine were also county players. Did the team go on to win? Did they carry on their badminton careers into adulthood?
