Sleaford police are issuing a warning to would-be anglers to avoid trying to catch fish in the River Slea in town.

PCSO Josh Fulker told The Standard: “On Saturday we had a report of three males fishing in the River Slea, however we weren’t able to locate them.”

Members of the public had reported people fishing near the Barge and Bottle and near the leisure centre.

PCSO Fulker said: “The river within town is private and not fishable, and any fishing in general needs a license from the Environment Agency.”
