There were 48 entries for the Lincolnshire Kart Racing Club’s September meeting at Fulbeck in 1965 with a large crowd on the Sunday watching some good racing and one or two spills.
One racer, Doug Horsley of Newark parted company with his machine spectacularly but got to his feet relatively unscathed, but his kart was in a worse state. In our picture, fighting for the lead are J. Padley (60) and E. Bothamley (57) mounting the kerb in an effort to get the inside line around the corner.
Did you used to go and watch or take part in these races back in the sixties? The karts have probably become much more sophisticated to those back then and the outfits have changed a bit too.
