A FACEBOOK group has been set up to appeal for a swimming pool in Mablethorpe.
The popular social networking site now features the group, simply known as Mablethorpe Swimming Pool, and boasts over a hundred members.

Group creator Christopher Gammon, from Mablethorpe states: "We need a swimming pool, we have been after one for years and have been promised one but where the hell is it?

"The council say they will not have a swimming pool as it would not make a profit, but I always thought that the council are meant to provide for the local community!"

He told the Leader: "I set the group up about two weeks ago as I think it's important for Mablethorpe to get a swimming pool as it will benefit everyone, from young people learning to swim, and older generations using it to keep fit."

He added: "People been after one for years and it will bring many different parts of the community together."

Several members have left comments on the group's the web page.
Mark Dillerstone said: "A pool is a community asset. It is ridiculous to think the children of Mablethorpe have nowhere to learn to swim yet live so close to the sea. The government tells us we should do more exercise and get fitter; surely swimming is an ideal form of exercise for people of all ages. Mablethorpe needs a pool now!"

Leanne Stubley wrote: "The council is too busy investing our council tax money into Icelandic banks! Give us our pool East Lindsey!"

There are several Facebook groups on Mablethorpe, including those focussing on clubs, schools and businesses in the town.
