A VILLAGE fire station has been presented with a new fire engine as part of a programme to update fire fighting equipment throughout the county.
The volunteer fire crew at Brant Broughton are the latest to get a new appliance, along with stations at North Hykeham and Waddington.

Brant Broughton Fire Station manager Mark Baxter said: "Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue's new appliances at North Hykeham, Waddington and Brant Broughton are at the forefront of public and fire fighter safety.

“They will enhance the skills and capability of a dedicated group of local fire fighters, which will directly and positively affect the emergency response given to the communities in and around those stations."

The new fire appliances use the latest technology, are eco-friendly, deliver state of the art performance and put firefighters' safety foremost in the design.

In total, the cost of upgrading and replacing fire appliances and equipment will cost Lincolnshire County Council more than £20 million over the 20 year life of the contract.
