The Heckington Sports Angling Club raised just over £1,050 for The Willoughby Special School, Bourne from a charity fishing match held at Moon Lake Fisheries, Tattershall.

Seven-year-old Teri Fisher, who attends Willoughby School, was the inspiration for this year’s charity. She is the daughter of Tony Fisher of Heckington who is a member of the angling club.

The money was presented to Lea Mason, deputy headteacher of The Willoughby School, which specialises in teaching children with severe learning difficulties.

She received the money at a special presentation night at Heckington Sports and Social Club.

This was the second annual fishing match the club has held to compete for the Richard Buckle Charity Shield, with a different local charity chosen each time.

Gary Kilner keeps the shield for another year after also winning the inaugural match last year.

His total catch weighed 23lb 8oz and he was presented with the shield by Mrs Mason.

Second was Stuart King, with 22lb 8oz, and third Dexy Hall, with 19lb 8oz.

The fishing match is becoming a recognised annual charity event which is open to all anglers.
