AFTER a successful weekend campaigning to ditch the plastic bag, the Sleaford Business Improvement District group has turned its attention to making life easier for motorists in the town.
Traffic Buster is a scheme first launched in Grantham by South Kesteven District Council.

They have set up a service sending email or sms texts of road traffic delays to those registered with the scheme which has proven popular in Grantham and is
being rolled out to Sleaford too.

BID manager Sandra Grinnell said: “It is proving really popular in Grantham and South Kesteven wanted to pass it onto Sleaford too. I get it to see where there is congestion or delays because of broken down vehicles.

“It is done in conjunction with the CCTV camera network and drivers can use the information to redirect themselves. The service is free, so let’s do it to help people out in the town and help the town flow better.”

Once registered you get an email or text. Just call Sandra on 01529 308411 to register your details and you can start receiving messages.

l About 2,000 cotton reusable bags were handed out to Sleaford shoppers on Saturday to encourage people to make Sleaford a carrier bag free zone.

The bags were given out from a stall on Sleaford Market Place during the monthly Farmers Market.

Sandra Grinnell said: “It was an excellent day with really positive feedback. We were quite surprised that everybody was so upbeat about it.”
