PASSENGERS on the Grantham to Skegness Poacher Line which passes through Sleaford are set to benefit from a £5,000 grant for Community Rail Partnerships.
The new Designated Community Rail Development Fund has a total of £60,000 to spend on improvements to local stations, such as more seats, cycle parking and better information for passengers. It can also help fund awareness campaigns to encourage more
people to use these lines.
The Poacher Line Community Rail Partnership promotes and develops railway services for local people to encourage use of the line in cost effective and innovative ways.
Manager Chris Watson can apply to the Association of Community Rail Partnerships for funding of up to £5,000. The Poacher Line is one of 23 rail partnerships up and down the country eligible to apply for the grants.
Jerry Swift, Network Rail's account director for Community Rail, said: "Network Rail has seen real improvements around the network as a result of the work of Community Rail Partnerships.
"We are looking forward to seeing some innovative schemes that benefit rail users and local people. Delivering a railway that meets local needs is key to seeing the network develop."
The scheme is jointly funded by the Department for Transport, Network Rail and the Association of Community Rail Partnerships.
