YOUNG people in Sleaford are being called on to make waves with their own community radio station.
Sleaford Foyer in Eastgate, which is run by Leicester Housing Association Support Services, is planning to launch a new station which will provide radio for young people by young people.

The station will play new music and tackle issues faced by y
oung people in the area, such as drink, drugs and sexual health.

It is looking for local people aged 13-25 to get involved from the start and work on the station, present shows and decide what should be played and what should be talked about.

Stuart Couling, LHA Support Services worker at the Foyer, said: "We want to hear from any young people in the area who want to shape how the new station will sound and have a go at presenting - this is their station.

"Anyone interested should join our facebook group, "Foyer Radio", to join the debate, tell us what they want to hear and find out how they can get involved."

LHA Support Services is applying for funding with support from artsNK, Lincolnshire County Council and the Foyer Federation for the equipment to set up its own broadcasting studio.

Sleaford Foyer is planning to broadcast the station on the internet at first.

When it is established it will apply for a licence for a one month trial on the air, before becoming a full time community radio station for the Sleaford area.

l For more information go to www.facebook.com and join the "Foyer Radio" group or contact Stuart on 01529 415318.
