Animal fundraisers select new charities

Metheringham Animal Welfare Supporters group held their annual meeting recently at the Red Lion Hotel in Dunston.

Despite a difficult year, the volunteers have raised £4,320. It saw £1,080 being presented at the meeting to each of their chosen animal charities for the year: Bunny Heaven, of Coleby, Lincs Ark (Animal Welfare), of Navenby and Boston, Lincolnshire Greyhound Trust, of Lincoln, and Northcote Heavy Horse Centre, of Spilsby.

Representatives of each were on hand to describe their work.

The committee was elected as: Joyce Muncey (chairman/treasurer), Yvonne Denman (vice-chairman), Natalie Thorpe (secretary), Loretta Hammonds, Kevin Doughty and Sue Powell.

Four charities were selected for the coming year: Radcliffe Donkey Sanctuary, of Huttoft, Fen Bank Greyhound Sanctuary, of Friskney, Hedgehog Care Hospital, of Authorpe, and Weirfield Wildlife Hospital, of Hykeham.
