Jay Petherick, 21, has been invited to attend the Guildford School of Acting, in Surrey, from October as a student on its master’s acting course.

The former St George’s pupil, who is currently studying drama at The University of Lincoln, has calculated, though, he needs to raise £26,000 to meet the cost of tuition, accommodation, and travel.

Minus a £10,000 student loan and £2,000 in earnings to date, he is now looking to raise the remainder through a combination of work, fundraising, and sponsorship.

“From a very young age it has always been my dream and burning desire to become a professional actor,” said Jay, who today lives in Lincoln.

He said a master’s would help increase his chances of securing auditions and work.

“The entertainment industry is an incredibly tough and competitive place to work and to do so it is very important to stand out from the crowd,” he said.

He said he would be ‘forever grateful’ for any donations.

“It’s seems at the moment my dream is so near, yet so far,” he said.
