Bridge work planned as part of railway upgrade

NETWORK Rail is preparing to upgrade the Doncaster to Peterborough Joint Line which runs through Sleaford in a renewal programme worth £280million.

Scheduled for completion in spring 2014, works include the replacement/enhancement of a number of level crossings and renewal of the existing signalling system.

Work will involve the replacement of the middle section of the rail bridge over Boston Road which could involve the closure of the road for up to two weeks.

A date for the work is yet to be announced.

Network Rail says the project will deliver enhanced safety, improved performance and reliability and will provide additional capacity for freight traffic when
required.

Residents affected will be notified and there will be a consultation event.
