Preparations are progressing well for this year’s Sleaford Christmas Market which is expected to be bigger and better.
Southgate and the Market Place are set to be closed to traffic to allow shoppers to wander around with ease and browse the stalls and attractions.So far over 40 stalls have been booked for the event and there is room for more if you wish to contact the Sleaford Town Council office on 01529 303456 and a website and Facebook page on the event have been set up to publicise the latest developments for anyone interested, as well as a Twitter feed.
The market will be on Sunday December 1 and new this year will be a continental market with stalls stretching the length of Southgate. The bandstand and Riverside Precinct will be used as an entertainment venue with various acts performing throughout the day.
The Market Place will be filled with stalls selling festive fayre, plus some funfair rides and entertainment on stage by musicians and dance acts, as well as children’s competitions. This area will also be marked out for the families leaving the Christingle service which starts at 3pm as usual followed by carols outside and the switch on of the town’s festive lights display. Money’s Yard will be a mixture of funfair attractions and stallholders, plus some travelling entertainment. Visitors can buy gifts from stalls varying from beautiful handmade crafts, home-made cakes, chilli sauces, pet goods, jewellery and plenty more, complementing the shops which will be joining in, offering special discounts on the day.
