Festival set to give platform to town businesses

After a successful debut in 2015, Made in Sleaford returns on Friday and Saturday, October 7 and 8.

The free event – organised by North Kesteven District Council (NKDC) – will take place at the National Centre for Craft and Design (NCCD) and Navigation Wharf, off Carre Street.

It aims to gives businesses based in the town the chance to showcase themselves, while also celebrating the area’s manufacturing past.

Coun Marion Brighton, leader of NKDC, said: “The town has some brilliant manufacturing businesses, many of them with hard-earned global reputations for products, quality and service.

“It is absolutely right that they are given a platform to show what they are all about to raise their profile locally and show people what they do.”

The focus on Friday will be on schools, though the event will still be open to the public, with up to 300 youngsters taking part in specially designed STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) activities with local firms, including SHD Composites, Sleaford Quality Foods and Moy Park. On Saturday, the focus will be on participation and demonstrations with a wide range of activities planned for the whole family.
