Proprietors Colin and Sheila Pont are retiring from the restaurant business after running it for 12 years during which time they say they have made many friends.

Mr Pont thanked the staff and everybody for their support over the years, saying: “We feel we have been privileged with being allowed to look after part of a beautiful landmark over the time we have run the business at Cogglesford.”

They will be opening at the weekend to sell off items that may be of interest.

The Grade II listed property has been sold, subject to contract, to Megan Ogley of Well-Being health and beauty salon, which has been based for 11 years in rented premises at West Lodge, further along East Road.

Her business is currently applying for change of use of the cottage to relocate.

In a covering letter with the application to North Kesteven District Council, the health and beauty salon is described as an ‘ideal fit’ with the building and its surroundings.

It states: “The applicant is keen to maintain and enhance the premises in a sympathetic manner in keeping with its status.

“There are no plans at this stage to alter the fabric of the building, either internally or externally.” But permission is being sought to erect a log cabin in the grounds, free standing signage and fencing around the premises.

The cabin would be moved from the applicant’s current location and used for treatments of clients needing disabled access.

The letter goes on to say: “The proposed fencing will provide discrete privacy both for business clients and the applicant’s personal living space, whilst continuing to provide access to the mill for visitors and vehicular access for maintenance purposes.”
