Former St George’s Academy pupil Joshua Scarfe is currently a top-graded student of Business and Marketing at Preston University.

He has successfully applied to be one of just 200 students across the UK to work as an international student studying marketing with Disney World Orlando in Florida.

He will work and study with Disney for a year after jetting off last week.

Josh said: “It is a big company to work for and will give me some employability skills.”

For half of his time he will be working with the public, doing crowd control, selling tickets and operating rides. The other half will be spent on hospitality and catering, while at the same time continuing his marketing studies with Michigan University.

He will be staying in a shared house in an apartment complex with its own pool, but he said: “It will take a bit of getting used to. Disney are very strict, you have to be on the ball and follow their policies.”

His parents Steve and Tracey have been anxious, with shootings and alligator attacks on the news, but Josh is more concerned about working in the 90-degree heat.

In preparation, Josh has worked in his spare time for Morrisons supermarket to fund his stay and hopes to travel to New York before returning to complete his studies.

Dad Steve said Josh had always had a flair for making money and even ran his own internet business as a child.
