Businesses get ready to celebrate

OWNERS of family-run and independent businesses in Sleaford are preparing to show shoppers what makes them well-worth tracking down.

Businesses are counting down to celebrating Independents’ Day on Wednesday, July 4, and urging shoppers and visitors to make time to explore the town and discover how much it offers.

Sleaford Business Improvement District (BID) group said businesses getting behind the Skillsmart Retail initiative are being encouraged to down-load and display ‘Your Local Shops Need You!’ posters from www.skillsmartretail.com Retail Independents’ Day page, to rehang their Jubilee bunting and offer special deals where possible.

BID manager Emma Batty said: “We are really proud of the sheer diversity and characterful nature of our independent shops and the fact that many offer unique products and services.

“We are pleased to say that, despite tough economic times, we continue to welcome new niche businesses to the town.

“Some of our newest include a baby and childrenswear and accessories shop, which decided to open a shop after successfully establishing itself on-line, a wedding dress shop, clothing boutique and a soft-furnishing firm, which was determined to fill a gap in the market for local services.

“We hope shoppers and visitors will make a date to come to Sleaford on July 4 and discover these and many many more.”
