A disused warehouse in Sleaford is to be demolished to make way for social housing and public car parking, it has been announced.
North Kesteven District Council (NKDC) has written to residents about its plans to transform the former Marque Technology depot situated between Grantham Road and the railway line, near the Elite Fish and Chip Company shop.
The authority has recently acquired the site and, in the letter, explains work was due to start last week on clearing it for redevelopment.
The council is currently looking at developing a mix of public car parking and social housing on the site.
This comes as part of its 10-year plan to build about 500 new council houses on potential sites wherever they can be acquired.
A spokesman for the authority explained it was also a way of creating parking to the south of the railway line.
This would tie-in with the planned pedestrian footbridge link to the railway station and town centre when the level crossing is closed as part of link road plans from Mareham Lane to Boston Road.
