Indian restaurant gets mayoral seal of approval
IT was a full house for the re-launch night of a new-look Sleaford restaurant.
The India Garden’s Market Place premises were officially re-opened by Mayor of Sleaford Trevor Mayfield on Thursday evening after a comprehensive refurbishment project.
Proprietor Nadim Aziz explained the business had been hit a year ago when thieves stole pipework from a vacant office above the restaurant, allowing water to pour through the ceiling.
The premises was refurbished but then in June this summer they were hit by a second flood caused by the heavy rain.
Mr Aziz said: “I was very upset at the time to see the water coming in again so we needed to have another re-fit, but even bigger this time and I am very impressed with how it now looks.” He felt it was even better than before.
New carpets and flooring have been fitted throughout. There is a new look bar area, the restaurant has been completely redecorated and fresh mood lighting added for much more contemporary look. Masny of the interior ideas have come from Mr Aziz’s son, Safayth Hussain.
The customer toilet area has also been totally revamped.
To celebrate the opening, Mr Aziz had all his family present for the re-opening and offered customers free starters with their main dishes, seeing the restaurant fully booked. The business usually employs six staff in the kitchen and front of house.
Mr Aziz said: “I want to thank the customers for their patience over the last two days when we have been closed while the major work has been done. Hopefully they will see the difference and be impressed.
“I particularly thank the Sleaford Standard for their help and the Mayor for coming along this evening.”
Look out in next week’s Standard for a great reader meal offer with the India Garden.
