The number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) in and around Sleaford fell to its lowest level since mid-2008 last month, figures released this morning (Wednesday) show.
North Kesteven’s claimant dropped to 801 in August, down from 876 in July, according to the Office for National Statistics.
This is the lowest the figure has stood since July 2008, when it was 776.
In August of last year, the count was 1,223.
The proportion of people of a working age in the district claiming JSA now stands at 1.2 per cent, down from 1.3 per cent in the previous month.
This compares to regional and national averages of 2.2 and 2.3 per cent respectively, both of which fell by 0.1 per cent from July to August.
