Village showcases its businesses

HECKINGTON held its first Showcase Saturday, inviting businesses based in the village - that may not be on the High Street - a chance to highlight their goods and services and raise awareness to local people that they are on their doorstep.
Thirteen businesses took part on the day, each being given a free pitch on the village green by organisers the parish council.
People had to bring their own stands and chairman of the council Richard Higgs said it went very well with very positive responses from visitors and those who took part in the showcase.
He said: “I think people were surprised about the number of traders in the village. The second hand furniture who had initially asked about whether he could set up on the green and prompted us to hold the event did a roaring trade. Wheelcraft tyres also did well as a lot of people had not realised they were based in the village.”
The council awarded the best display title to the Windmill Shop and the most innovative stand to Steve Parry the wedding video cameraman and photographer.
Other stands included the village hall, a jewellery maker, the Green Tearooms, a handyman, the Heckington magazine and Lindsey James dress shop.
