The historic setting of Lincoln Castle is to be the starting point for one of the most popular events on the Sleaford calendar.
The Spires and Steeples Challenge is a charity 26-mile or 13-mile event that offers participants the opportunity to either walk or run.
The full marathon distance of 26-miles will set off from the castle, while the half marathon event starts from Metheringham.
The routes follow the Spires and Steeples arts and heritage trail along waymarked public footpaths and bridleways.
Both events finish in Sleaford at the National Centre for Craft and Design.
A spokesperson for the event organisers said: “It has now been confirmed that the start for the 26 mile event will be Lincoln Castle.
“It is the perfect location for any event and we are excited to bring Spires and Steeples back to the castle once again.”
This year’s event takes place on Sunday, October 18. It is £18 to enter the 26-mile challenge and £15 for the 13-mile event, with places limited to 1,000. You must be aged 16 or over to take part in the 26-mile run, but children aged between 14 and 16 can take part in the walks and the 13-mile run as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
