Former Sleaford woman dies

Caroline Vere-Critcher, 38, was found dead at home on January 21. An inquest has been opened into her death.

A former pupil of William Alvey School and Kesteven and Sleaford High School, she leaves her parents, Douglas and Patricia Vere-Critcher of Sleaford and brother Jeremy (Jez) who lives in New Zealand. She also leaves her much loved cat Merlin.

Living in Sleaford until the age of 18, she served in the RAF as a mess steward and went on to several other civilian jobs including banking, travel insurance and flight safety before having to give up work having been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis eight years ago as well as having bipolar disorder.

Lately she had been working as a volunteer for Help for Heroes in Camberley, having volunteered for other charities in the past as well as doing a tandem skydive and a bungee jump off Auckland Bridge three years ago.

Neighbours and friends have said how Caroline was always willing to help them and would sometimes battle with bus companies about providing low floor access buses for disabled passengers.

Her funeral took place on Friday, February 5 at Easthampstead Park Cemetery and Crematorium in Bracknell where around 100 mourners attended from as far as Norwich, Bury St Edmunds, Fareham, Swindon, RAF Benson and Cornwall. The RAF Association sent a standard bearer and two escorts too.

The service was led by civil celebrant Fiona Sargeant.

No flowers were requested, instead inviting donations for the MS Trust and Bipolar UK.

Funeral arrangements were by Holmes and Family of Sandhurst.
