Aerosol cans set on fire in park in Sleaford

Firefighters in Sleaford had to extinguish a quantity of leaves on fire in Boston Road Recreation Ground after a number of aerosol cans had been set alight.

The potentially explosive situation was reported at about 10.20am yesterday morning (Thursday) and it is believed the cans were set alight deliberately.

Police are making inquiries into the incident and anyone with information should call 101 referring to incident 191 of 12/3/15.

Karl Turrill, Deputy Community Fire Safety Manager for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, says: “Aerosols are extremely flammable – please keep them away from sources of ignition and sunlight.

“If a can explodes, sharp pieces of metal can go in all directions and a fire could spread very quickly.

“Please don’t put yourself or other people in danger.”
