Sleaford Neighbourhood Policing Team are seeking to calm concerns about alleged dog thefts in the local area and rumours of bogus fish sellers looking for dogs to steal.

PCSO Patrick Welby-Everard says there is currently no evidence to support this, adding: “The male that was stopped on December 17 in relation to this was a fish seller who had stock in his van.”

He said rumours were circulating on social media causing distress but the force was not investigating any attempted pet thefts in the Sleaford Area. Anyone with information should call police on 101 or 999 in an emergency.
