Police urge builders to keep their tools safe
WORKERS are being urged not to keep their tools in thier vans overnight after four thefts in as many days around the area.
Expensive power tools were stolen from vans in Branston and Digby and attempts were made to break into vehicles in Metheringham and Dorrington this week and police are advising workers to store their equipment safely.
The first incident happened sometime over the weekend (September 22 and 23) where a drill and a tool box were stolen from a white Fiat Doblo in Church Street, Digby.
Overnight on Sunday (September 23), an attempt was made to break into a white Citroen Relay panel van in Shiregate, Metheringham, but nothing was taken. Then later that same night thieves broke into the roller shutter door at the back of a Mitsubishi pickup in Main Street in Dorrington.
Then three power tools were stolen from a Peugeot boxer van in Wisteria Avenue, Branston, at around 5.50am on Monday (September 24).
If anyone saw any suspicious activity in these areas at the time, has any information on possible offenders or where the tools are being sold on, call Lincolnshire Police on 101, or call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
