Unlocked cars and garages targeted by weekend thieves
Police are asking people to ensure that they lock and secure vehicles and garages following a number of burglaries over the weekend in the Sleaford area.
Intruders got into a garage on Curlew Way, Sleaford overnight between Saturday and Sunday. A red mountain bike was stolen, and later found abandoned around the corner in Falcon Way.
In another incident, thieves entered a garage in Thrush Close, Sleaford and stole a Sony sat nav which was in a car parked inside. This occurred between 11.15pm on Saturday night and 5.20am on Sunday.
Between 4.30pm on Saturday and 1pm on Sunday, thieves got into a black Toyota Celica parked in a drive on Magnolia Road, Sleaford and the front faceplate of a Sony car stereo was stolen.
In a fourth incident during the same period, overnight between Saturday and Sunday, a silver Audi A3 parked in Rowan Close, Sleaford was entered and some money stolen.
On Sunday evening officers patrolling in the area found over 20 insecure vehicles which they advised owners about.
Police are urging people to be vigilant and to ensure that vehicles, garages and houses are locked at all times. Leaving a vehicle or a property unlocked even for a short time leaves them vulnerable to opportunist thieves. The time invested in securing these can avoid the distress and inconvenience of becoming a victim of crime.
Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to call Lincolnshire Police on 101.
