Dancers in Sleaford will benefit from a funding boost after Dance Factor Lincolnshire was awarded the runners-up ‘Bonus Award’ from ITV’s The People’s Millions fund.

Thanks to public votes the project will receive £48,500 to take dance into communities across Lincolnshire including Sleaford and surrounding areas, providing over 750 young people with free evening street dance sessions that culminate in a grand final showcase event.

Despite losing its initial head-to-head battle against another regional project on November 24, Dance Factor received the highest number of public votes out of the other losing projects from the region.

This qualified Dance Factor, which is a partnership project led by InspireDance, for the Bonus Award.

Other project partners include locally-based artsNK, North Kesteven District Council, Leisure in the Community and 1Life.

Alice Carter, committee member of InspireDance, said: “We cannot thank everyone enough who has supported the project
and all those who voted
for us.”

Dance Factor Lincolnshire will launch in the New Year. Information at http://dancefactorlincolnshire.weebly.com/
