Sleaford’s Tesco store has donated a violin for the children of Kirkby La Thorpe Primary School to learn to play.

Store manager Stephen Craig was joined by staff Vanessa Gray and Leslie Sargent (pictured) for a special assembly to make the presentation, plus a number of raffle prizes.

Headteacher Katie Gravil (pictured with pupils) said: “We’re delighted to have received the violin. As part of our music curriculum all children in Year 3 are given the opportunity to learn an instrument. This year our pupils are learning the clarinet. We have a specialist music teacher from the Lincolnshire Music Service who teaches these lessons, and we hope, with her help, to identify a pupil who is particularly musical, who will be loaned the instrument to develop their skills and interest. We are extremely grateful for this generous gift.”
