STUDENTS have shown their support for Sleaford’s international links with a fund-raising event.
St George’s Academy’s Year 13 Travel and Tourism students held a Valentine’s Day themed afternoon to raise money for the Sleaford Twinning Association as part of their A-Level course work.
Guests from the Twinning Association and the Sleaford U3A group were invited to the academy to try their hand at making Valentine inspired button holes, following instructions in German.
Afterwards they were offered ‘Kaffee und kuchen’ refreshments and had a go at the raffle, with prizes donated by several local businesses.
Overall the St George’s students managed to raise more £100 for the Twinning Association.
The academy’s head girl, Emily Brammeier, was in charge of organising the event.
She said: “This was a marvellous opportunity for us to raise the profile of the work of St George’s Academy is doing to support international links through the Twinning Association and the importance of learning a foreign language.”
