Get into Olympic spirit

IN the run up to the 2012 Olympics, local schoolchildren will have the chance to learn more about the games and the countries taking part. As part of the Cultural Olympiad, a series of Olympic-themed workshops will be taking place at libraries around the county during February and March. The sessions will help local children explore the values behind the Olympics and the countries participating.

A workshop will take place at Ruskington library at 10am and Sleaford library at 2pm on Wednesday March 14 where each will invite a local school class to take part.

Jonathan Platt, head of libraries and heritage at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “The workshops will explore different cultures and help teach the kids about teamwork, friendship and cultural awareness. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the torch coming to Lincolnshire.”
