A village primary school’s commitment to providing competitive sporting opportunities for its pupils has been rewarded with a top accolade.
Leasingham St Andrew’s Primary School has been awarded a gold quality mark in the Sainsbury’s School Games Mark scheme.
The Government led awards scheme was launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community.
David Hodgson, headteacher of St Andrew’s School, said: “The school has worked closely with Carre’s Grammar School’s outreach team and Matt Evans, investing its PE premium money into sustainable development for the children of St Andrew’s.
“The award is a measure of the commitment and effort the children, staff and parents have put in to achieve it.
“There are only a handful of schools in the county that have achieved this.”
The award was presented to the school by Andy Allen, Sleaford area games co-ordinator.
