Lincolnshire bucks national trend as pass rate increases
ALTHOUGH nationally there has been a slight fall in GCSE results this year, schools in Lincolnshire bucked that trend and showed improved results overall.
Figures released by Lincolnshire schools, including academies, showed the overall result for the national key GCSE indicator of five or more A*-C grades (including English and Maths) has again increased in the county this year by 0.8 per cent to 63 per cent.
This compares very favourably against a national trend that appears to show a fall in GCSE grades.
Two schools in the county achieved 100 per cent five or more A*-C grades (including English and Maths).
Coun Patricia Bradwell, Lincolnshire Countyu Council’s executive member responsible for Children’s Services, said: “This is yet another outstanding year of results for Lincolnshire schools.
“It’s a truly incredible achievement by all young people, their teachers, parents and carers, especially in light of the national fall. The students should feel exceptionally proud of all their hard work.”
Her views were echoed by the heads of Sleaford’s three secondary schools.
Craig Booker, Headteacher of Kesteven & Sleaford High School Selective Academy, said: “Overall this has been a very successful summer for the High School, with record A level results and excellent GCSE results.”
Carre’s Grammar School headteacher Nick Law added: “It has been another very successful year, with outstanding achievements amongst a large number of Carre’s students.”
Paul Watson, principal of St George’s Academy, said: “The GCSE results from St George’s Academy were exceptionally good this year. For the Academy as a whole almost 90 per cent secured five or more A*-C grades.”
