Minister quizzed over an academy option

SLEAFORD MP Douglas Hogg thinks there could be a future for Lafford High School if it can become part of the new Sleaford Academy.

Mr Hogg told the Standard that even though Lafford does not have the numbers to stand alone as a mainstream school, he would be asking the Secretary of State to find out if it could become part of the Sleaford Academy.

The Lafford was due to be part of the new proposed Sleaford Academy, linking it with other schools in the area, but it was later decided by Lincolnshire County Council that the Billinghay secondary school was too small to be included.

Mr Hogg said: "I have written to the Secretary of State to ask if it is correct about the Lafford being too small. If that is the case I will ask if it can be looked at again."
