MP shows support for covenant

SLEAFORD and North Hykeham MP Stephen Phillips MP has been demonstrating his support for the government’s new military covenant in a visit to a primary school where many pupils come from armed forces families.
Mr Phillips paid a visit to Cranwell Primary School to meet the headteacher, Chris Wilson, together with governors, members of staff and the local RAF liaison officer to discuss the challenges posed by the Government’s decision to enshrine the military covenant in law, ensuring that personnel serving in our armed forces are never disadvantaged as a result.
Stephen pledged to do all he can to ensure that the school is given the support it needs to meet the challenges posed by the military covenant, as well as lending his voice to calls for the Ministry of Defence to provide unwanted land in the vicinity for the school’s further development.
Mr Phillips said: “Ensuring that local primary schools always have places available for returning service families is not easy in a county like ours.
“But it is vitally important that the men and women of our armed services know that they and their families will not be disadvantaged by the careers they have chosen to pursue.”
