Nick Dowler (centre) is given a send-off by governors, staff and pupils from Nocton School.

FOLLOWING 23 years as headteacher, Nick Dowler is leaving Nocton Primary School.

A surprise party was sprung on Mr Dowler to mark his years of service to the community before the end of term.

He was presented with gifts and cards and a plaque that will take pride of place in the new school extension.

The Dowler Room, as it is now to be officially known, will be a fitting tribute to his contribution and he cut the ribbon to officially open the new extension.

Work on the classroom extension began last summer to create a larger Early Years and Key Stage 1 classroom.

Mr Dowler thanked parents, pupils, staff and governors for their support: “I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone who contributed in any way to the presentation which took place after the school production.

“The gifts received were most thoughtful and very much appreciated.

“Having had very many memorable years working here at Nocton School I would like to wish everyone the very best for the future.”
