PROMOTIONAL material featuring top British Paralympians will be used to inspire young artists.

Carre’s Grammar School in Sleaford has been presented with Sainsbury’s decorations that filled the store during the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Items donated included posters, banners and hanging mobiles which feature Paralympic medal winners Jonnie Peacock and David Weir, which Carre’s will use to help pupils remember Team ParalympicsGB’s success at the London 2012 Paralympic Games and encourage children of all abilities to take part in Paralympic sport.

It all came about when Carre’s head of art Theresa Angus asked Sainsbury’s if they would donate any of their visual art posters from the Paralympics promotions once the summer was over for the Paralympics-based art projects she planned to run in school.

Ms Angus said: “We’re using the Paralympics as inspiration for both A-level work and a special edition Arts Award that forms part of the Cultural Olympiad. The Paralympics have been phenomenal and will inspire an array of work in school this term.”

Sainsbury’s Sleaford store manager Debbie Wrightson said: “Our colleagues really enjoyed helping the school take part in Paralympic sport earlier this year and I hope this donation will help the children remember our extraordinary ParalympicsGB athletes”.
