Pupils at Ruskington’s Chestnut Street CE Primary School are full of snap, crackle and pop this week after being given 60 free boxes of Rice Krispies and Cornflakes.

Youngsters are celebrating Breakfast Week from January 26–30, completing menus of their breakfast, looking at healthy snacks and cereals and also enjoying tasting the cereal.

Headteacher Laura Suffield explained the cereal boxes had been supplied free of charge by Lincolnshire County Council’s Learning Communities iniative - a scheme supporting the health of vulnerable children. She said they were widening the appeal by getting all the school to look at what makes a healthy breakfast: “Some of the cereal will also be used in Breakfast Club to ensure that children have a healthy and nutritious start to the day ready to engage in their learning.”
